1960 from County Limerick. Family lived on a farm
and had to move due to financial difficulty and lack of work. Father immigrated
in 1959 and found a job with Smith & Nephew in Welwyn Garden City. Travelled with family.
I attended mainstream and a convent school in
Ireland. When I arrived aged 14, I missed the 11 plus and therefore attended
the technical college for a year.
My first job was with Brown & Somerton Upper
George Street Luton where I did the accounts for 3 years.
Then at Dickinson & Adams for a year in
Rendalls Engineering for a year in Acconts.
Commonwealth Bank of Australia London for a year.
1971 I married and moved back to Luton. Raised my
family over 15 years.
Partner in Chiltern Homes Estate Agents for 2
Years. Wound up in 1987.
Dairy Crest High Town Accounts for 7 years & 6
months until redundancy.
Debonair in Accounts for 3 years until it went
Electrolux I year until redundancy
Whitbreads for 8 years until redundancy.
Retired in 2008.
LIF volunteer for 14 years one of the first
Trustees of the Forum.
